Past Continuous Tense ( Hindi to English )
(Is/am/are+v 1st+ing)
पहचान
वाक्य का हिंदी में अनुवाद करते समय रहा था,रही थी, रहे थे आता है।
Affirmative Sentence structure
1. सबसे पहले subject आता है।
2. फिर helping verb (was/were) आती है
3. Verb की 1st form के साथ ing आता है।
4. इसके बाद object आता है ।
Was का प्रयोग
He / She, it और Singular noun के साथ was का आता है ।
Were का प्रयोग
You ,We ,They और Plural noun के साथ were का आता है ।
Sub+was/were+verb की 1st form+ing+object.
1.पक्षी आसमान में उड़ रहे थे।
Birds were flying in the sky.
2. सीमा किताब पढ़ रही थी ।
Seema was reading a book.
3. वह ब्रेड खा रहा था।
He was eating bread.
4. तुम पत्र लिख रहे थे।
You were writing a letter.
5. तुम सो रहे थे।
You were sleeping.
6. हम जा रहें थे।
We were going
7. वह शोर मचा रहा था।
He was making a noise.
8. आसमान में तारें चमक रहें थे।
Stars were shining in the sky.
9.वह अपने कमरे में सो रहा था।
He was sleeping in his room.
10. वे नदी पर पुल बना रहे थे।
They were building a bridge across the river.
11. रीमा अपना होमवर्क कर रही थी।

12. मजदूर सड़क की मरम्मत कर रहे थे।
The workers were repairing the road.
13. चिड़िया घोंसले में चहचहा रही थी।
The sparrow was chirping in the nest.
14. बच्चा झूले में सो रहा था।
Child was sleeping in the cradle.
15. पक्षी उड़ रहे थे।
The birds were chirping.
16.वह उसे डांट रहा था ।
He was scolding him.
17.मै कल शाम उपन्यास पढ़ रहा था ।
I was reading a novel yesterday evening.

Negatve Sentence structure
Sub+was/were+not+verb की 1st form+ing+object.
1.बच्चे पतंग नहीं उठा रहें थे।
The boys were not flying kites.
2.वे बातें नहीं कर रहे थे।
They were not talking.
3.वह झूठ नही बोल रहा था।
He was not telling a lie.
4.मै स्कूल नही जा रहा था।
I was going to school.
5.तुम किताबें नहीं पढ़ रहे थे।
You were not reading books.
6.वह गाना नही गा रही थी।
She was not singing a song.
7. वह नही हस रही थी।
He was not laughing.
8. मोहन टीवी नहीं देख रहा था।
Mohan was not watching tv,
9. चपरासी घंटी नहीं बजा रहा था।
The peon was not ringing the bell.
10. बाहर बारिश नहीं हो रही थी।
It was not raining outside.
11. अध्यापक कक्षा में पढ़ा रहा था ।
The teacher was not teaching in the class.
12. वह अपना होमवर्क पूरा नहीं कर रहा था ।
He was not doing his homework .
13.वे फूल नहीं तोड़ रहे थे ।
They were not plucking the flowers.
14.रीटा अपना काम नहीं कर रही थी ।
Rita was not doing her homework.
15.वे मंदिर में नहीं जा रहे थे ।
They were not going to a temple.

Interrogative Sentence
Interrogative Sentence दो तरह के होते है ।
1.Helping verb से शुरू होने वाले
2. Wh- family question word से शुरू होने वाले

Helping verb से शुरू होने वाले
ऐसे वाक्यों कि शुरुआत क्या से होती है जैसे ;
क्या तुम पढ़ रहे थे ।
क्या विद्यार्थी पढ़ रहे थे ।
- सबसे पहले is /am / are आता है।
- उसके बाद सब्जेक्ट आता है
- फिर verb की 1st form के साथ ing आता है ।
- इसके बाद object आता है।
( Was /Were+subject+v 1st+ing)+object?
1. क्या बच्चा रो रहा था ?
Was the child weeping ?
2.क्या राम पत्र लिख रहा था ?
Was Ram writing a letter ?
2. क्या मां खाना बना रही थी ?
Was the mother cooking the food ?
4.क्या तुम मुम्बई जा रहे थे ?
Were you going to Mumbai ?
5. क्या वे बगीचे में खेल रहे थे ?
Were they Playing in the garden ?
6. क्या तुम स्कूल में जा रहे थे ?

7. दर्जी कपड़े सिल रहें था?

2. Wh- family question word से शुरू होने वाले
यदि वाक्य के बीच में प्रश्न सूचक शब्द हो तो
1. सबसे पहले उस शब्द की हिंदी करते हैं
2. फिर Helping verb ( was/were ) आता है
3. Helping verb के बाद subject आता है इसके बादverb और objectआता है।
Wh - question word +was/were + subject +verb की 1st form +object .
What was Neha doing?
नेहा क्या कर रही है ?
Why was Rohan playing cricket ?
रोहन क्रिकेट क्यों खेल रहा है ?
Rules
- अगर while के दोनों तरफ blanks हो तो present continuous tense आएगा।
His mother was cooking in the kitchen while he was playing in ground.
- अगर when के एक तरफ है , तो दूसरी तरफ Past Continuous Tense आता है ।
He was writing a letter when I saw him.
When we arrived he was writing a letter.
